A Plumber/Pipefitter installs, repairs, and maintains piping systems that carry water, steam, chemicals, and fuel, with plumbers typically working on lower‑pressure residential and commercial water and waste lines while pipefitters (or steamfitters) focus on high‑pressure industrial systems found in factories and power plants. Students learn safe work practices, tool use and maintenance, blueprint interpretation, basic electricity and pump principles, and how to assemble and test piping systems such as drainage, waste, and venting, giving them the foundational knowledge needed to begin work in the piping trades.
