What You Will Learn:

The Cabinetmaker (Joiner) Foundation program introduces students to the skills and knowledge needed for entry‑level work in cabinetmaking, architectural woodwork (millwork), furniture making, boat interiors, and store fixture manufacturing. Through a blend of theory and hands‑on training, students learn the foundational techniques of the cabinetmaking and carpentry trades, preparing them to begin working as apprentices and to pursue pathways toward becoming certified carpenters or joiners. This program equips learners with the practical abilities and industry awareness required to seek employment in cabinetmaking, joinery, and related construction fields, serving as the first step in their professional journey.

      • in-school technical training
      • work-based training hours towards Red Seal Certification
    • High School
      • grade 12 credits towards graduation

What You Can Expect:

Tuition-free (fees paid by SD83) enrollment in a full-time post-secondary program.

Students are responsible for buying textbooks/required materials or tools.

Students must arrange their own transportation to/from campus.

  • Maintaining good attendance and keeping up with school work - career programs require interviews!
  • Considering a trade sampler program.
  • Enrolling in Work Experience at a related job site.
  • Participating in Career related activities like going on a tour (virtual or in person) or attending an info session.
  • Selecting shop and math based elective courses.
  • Making and monitoring an appropriate personal email. (ex: do not use phat_cat69@gmail.com)
  • Ensuring your personal information is up to date (i.e email, resume, SIN, etc).
