What You Will Learn:
Students will learn the necessary procedures to proficiently reprocess medical devices and the knowledge and practical skills required for a career as a Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (MDRT) including: decontamination, cleaning, processing, assembly, sterilization, storage, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical devices plus the handling and packaging of over 100 basic surgical instruments.
What You Can Expect:
This is a Full-time program with the theory portion entirely online. Some online classes are self-paced, but most are led by an instructor with mandatory attendance and they run Monday to Thursday (9 am – 3 pm) with some scheduled Fridays. Students are expected to attend the Kelowna campus for 4 days of in-person hands-on training and there is also a 400-hour supervised practicum (approximately 10-weeks) at accredited Interior Health facility.
What You Will Earn:
- 28 grade 12 credits towards graduation (7 courses)
- Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Certificate (upon successful completion of the program)
- Qualify to write the Canadian Standards Association Certified Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Personnel exam.

- Prerequisites:
- Be on-track to graduate.
- English 12 (minimum 60%)
- An absence of health problems that affect your ability to lift, stand for long periods of time, or perform repetitive movements.

- Apply in April of the previous year for Spring (May) intake.
- Apply in December of the previous year for Fall (October) intake.
