What You Will Learn:
This Medical Office Assistant (MOA) program prepares students for administrative and clinical duties of an office assistant in a medical or clinical environment. Participants learn the skills required to communicate accurately and professionally with medical professionals and patients, demonstrate knowledge of office procedures and time management, apply medical terminology, apply medical office guidelines and standards, and gain real-world experience through a practicum. Students will also learn about medical/legal aspects of the healthcare industry.
Key Skills Learned: administrative, clinical, and interpersonal skills.
What You Can Expect:
For the first 7 months, all scheduled classes are online with a blend of synchronous live lectures at the Vernon campus and asynchronous self-study. Online classes are scheduled two week-day evenings per week from 6pm-9pm and Saturdays between 9am-2pm. A 90-hour in-person practicum is completed in the student's home community.

- 12 grade 12 credits towards graduation (3 courses)
- Medical Office Certificate (upon successful completion of the program)

- Prerequisites:
- Be on-track to graduate.
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Clean criminal record check.
- Negative TB test.
- Basic computer skills with the ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
