What You Will Learn:

This innovative initiative provides aspiring educators with essential skills and knowledge for success in the dynamic field of early childhood education. Students learn the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to work with children, families and the community in planning enriched programs in daycares, preschools and other early childhood initiatives that focus upon healthy development throughout the early years.


What You Can Expect:

At OC Salmon Arm Campus students attend online evening classes Monday - Wednesday from 6 pm - 9 pm and daytime labs, in-person, Thursdays between 8 am - 3 pm. Practicum placements occur Monday to Friday, between 8 am - 4 pm. Students who complete the certificate program may apply for admission into the Early Childhood Education diploma program.

What You Will Earn:

    • 28 grade 12 credits towards graduation (7 courses)
    • Early Childhood Education Certificate (upon successful completion of the program)

  • Prerequisites:
    • English 12 (minimum 60%)
    • Valid First Aid Certificate
    • Clean criminal record check
  • Program Length:
    • Three semesters/One Year
  • Program Dates:
    • Apply in March for January intake

  • Enrolling in Work Experience at a related job site.
  • Making and monitoring an appropriate personal email. (ex: do not use phat_cat69@gmail.com)
  • Ensuring your personal information is up to date (i.e email, resume, SIN, etc).
