Two Parent/Student Workshops to Celebrate BC Careers Week
SD83 Careers is ready with events and activities to recognize the Provincial Government’s recent proclamation of November 25th-29th being BC Careers Week within the K-12 public school system. Two of these events involve learning about different resources to help students explore careers in STEM and Business.
The first event will take place on Tuesday, November 26th at 7PM when SD83 Careers and “Let’s Talk Science” host a province-wide virtual seminar called “Shaping the Future: Navigating STEM Careers for the Next Generation”. Let’s Talk Science is a national charitable organization committed to preparing youth for evolving career and citizenship demands by providing programs and resources to build engagement towards STEM . The event is targeted for all K-12 parents and students on how they can learn more about Science, Technology, Engineering and Math careers while building skills outside of the classroom for some of those careers. If you wish to register for the event to learn more about these resources, just click on the “Save your spot” green button on the poster below or simply click here.
The other session takes place on Thursday, November 28th at 7pm when SD83 Careers and JABC (formally known as Junior Achievement) will host an event entitled “Discover the World of Business and Money”. JA’s mandate is to help prepare young people for the future of work, how to think entrepreneurially, and ensure they have the tools to be financially capable adults. This event is also a province-wide virtual seminar and is geared specifically for Grades 4-6 parents and students. There will also be an online game or two that parents and students can participate in during the event. For students and parents interested in registering, they can do so by clicking on the registration link on the poster or by simply clicking here.
There will be two more virtual events SD83 students can take advantage of during BC Careers Week and those events will be released soon. If you wish to have more details about the events, please contact George Richard at 778-824-1188 via text or phone or you can email grichard @sd83.bc.ca.
