SD83 Students Dig into Mining Careers in May
Can you dig it?
SD83, MineralsEd and Thompson Rivers University are sponsoring a full-day field trip to the Kamloops post-secondary institution on Wednesday, May 7th. The university will be showcasing three of its departments that send students into the minerals industry: Trades, Engineering and Natural Resource Sciences. It’s estimated nearly 18-thousand people currently work directly in B.C.’s mining industry. That number is expected to increase in the short and long term with new mines coming on stream in the province as the global demand for critical minerals surges.
Those students interested in attending the event can go to their career centre to pick up a parent permission form. If you wish any other details about the event or have other field trip ideas you would like to share, please contact George Richard via text or phone at 778-824-1188 or email grichard@sd83.bc.ca.
