SD83 Careers Features Nursing at TRU Next Month
SD83 Careers and Thompson Rivers University are partnering to host a full-day field trip to the Kamloops campus on Wednesday, December 6th.
SD83 will bring up to 45 students from its five high schools to TRU to view its Nursing and Respiratory Therapy departments. Students will have 75 minute sessions in each department doing interactive, hands-on activities with professors along with a presentation explaining more about each profession. Students will be picked up before school starts and dropped off after busses leave for the day so parents must ensure the students have a safe way to and from school that day.
The December 6th session is part of a health-focused week within SD83 Careers. On December 7th, students can join a virtual seminar hosted by BCIT highlighting little known but in-demand health care careers like sonography, biomedical engineering, MRI technician and nuclear medicine, among others.
Students who are interested in the nursing tour or the BCIT seminar are asked to see their school-based career coordinator to pick up a parent permission slip or a link to the event. If you wish further details, you can talk with one or the school-based career coordinators or you can email George Richard at grichard@sd83.bc.ca. He can also be texted or phoned at 778-824-1188. If you have any ideas or leads on other experiential learning opportunities for student, please contact George.
