SD83 Careers Cutting Creative Teeth with CAT
SD83 students have an opportunity to check out creative careers with a field trip to Kelowna in April.
The Centre for Arts and Technology or CAT will be hosting over 70 students and instructors at its Kelowna Landmark facility on April 5th. Students will have a chance to not just get a tour of the facility, but will be able to work for up to three hours in any of the following disciplines to create a small project: Graphic and Web Design, Animation, Audio Engineering, Interior Design, Photography and Filmmaking. This private post-secondary institution has been based in Kelowna for decades. Its instructors have worked and currently work their craft within their creative industries and have churned out market-ready professionals in the selected disciplines. Many district students have been introduced to the training institute as recruiter Jon Matlock has been touring various art classes this week.
Admittance to this field trip is on a first-come, first serve basis. Students are urged to see the career coordinator and clerk to get a parent permission form and return it quickly so they can then register online for the creative category of their choice. If you have more questions about the full-day field trip, please contact your school-based career department professional. You also can reach out to George Richard via text or phone at 778-824-1188 or grichard@sd83.bc.ca for more information or if you have a great career idea that students would be interested in.
