CPA Getting Down to Business in SD83

Nearly 220 SD83 students received some business guidance from a veteran entrepreneur and marketer on careers in the industry this week.

Chartered Professional Accountants of BC Recruiter Larry Jung visited four district secondary schools over three days. Jung talked to students about careers within the accounting and marketing fields, what courses to take at a high school level, accounting and marketing education programs in the province and what the careers entail. He also shared his experiences as an entrepreneur and as a manager of a well-known national franchise. Jung spoke to students in J.L. Jackson’s Entrepreneurship and Marketing class, Salmon Arm Secondary’s Accounting, Entrepreneurship and Marketing classes, Pleasant Valley Secondary’s Hairstyling Program and the entire Grade Grade 10-12 class at Eagle Valley Secondary in Sicamous.

This was Jung’s first time speaking to students outside of the lower mainland. He is looking forward to potentially visiting the area again. “The students were very attentive, inquisitive and enthusiastic. At times, I felt like a rock star!”

Jung’s visit is the first of several visits by career practitioners to district classrooms this school year.
