Climate Change & Math: A Career Option for SD83 Students
SD83 Grade 10-12 students have the chance to learn more about careers in Actuary Sciences next month.
SD83 Careers Department and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries are teaming up to offer students an opportunity to do some hands-on math work in a classroom-based field trip at SAS-Jackson on Friday, October 6th. Actuarial Science is the discipline that applies mathematical and statistical methods to assess risk in insurance, pension, finance, investment and other industries and professions.
Bussing will be provided for students in Armstrong, Enderby and Sicamous so they can attend. If students are interested in checking out the field trip, they can go to their career coordinator at the school and get a permission form.
This is the first field trip announcement for this year but there plenty more activities and events coming in the weeks and months ahead. If you have any ideas for future trips or you have questioned related to this particular event, please don’t hesitate to either text or phone SD83 Career Education Coordinator George Richard at 778-824-1188 or you can email grichard@sd83.bc.ca.
